Cosmetic Dental Veneers
There are two types of cosmetic veneers, porcelain and composite, at Camira Dental we offer both types and are happy to consult you on the best option for you. Both porcelain and composite veneers require a preliminary examination with x-rays to determine your suitability for these procedures. Unsure about the difference between composite and porcelain veneers? We have outlined the essential differences below.
Composite veneers are the cheaper and faster option, as only one visit to the dentist is required. They look great, last about 5+ years, and are hand-made by the dentist using cosmetic filling material; however, they will stain, particularly in smokers. Composite veneers are constructed on-site at our clinic. In this visit we fit you for your veneers but generally do not need an impression.
Porcelain veneers offer the best aesthetic result. Porcelain veneers require impressions and need some teeth modification and reduction. Once you have come in to our practice for your impressions they are then sent off to our local dental lab, to create your porcelain veneers. It can take two to three weeks to manufacture these veneers and during this time we provide temporary veneers for you to wear.
Once your veneers have been created, they are fitted at the practice by one of our skilled dentists. This is a long visit so we advise you to plan your day accordingly.
At Camira Dental, we have had cases where porcelain veneers lasted 25+ years. Porcelain is also much more stain-resistant and looks the best – it gives you the Hollywood smile!
What to expect on your visit
If you suspect you might need to visit the dentist, whether for a regular check-up or a specific problem, the first step is to give us a call. Our friendly dental assistants can help you with most inquiries, booking you in for a further consultation or treatment.
When you come in, your dentist will have a discussion with you about your needs and propose treatment. At Camira Dental, we take pride in telling the truth about patient needs, never engaging in up-selling.
You’ll get an upfront quote on the full cost of treatment before starting. If needed, it’s possible to prioritise treatment to spread out the cost. We won’t start any treatment without your verbal consent to proceed with the plan.
We use innovative pain-free techniques, providing gentle care. If you have sensitive teeth or a fear of the dentist, don’t hesitate to let our team know. We’ll do our best to make you feel comfortable during your visit.
